Fostering a relaxed, heart-based relationship with God through Jesus

Have you ever wondered what humility might look like in an insightful, aware, gifted person? We certainly don’t benefit from doing the “aw shucks, folks” routine that often passes for being humble. I have a few ideas that might challenge us.

It was one of those weeks when I was feeling kind of down – not a hard thing for the highly sensitive person. And then one night I had a vivid dream. I woke up transformed.

In the U.S., the Christmas shopping season officially begins the day after Thanksgiving. But for me, that’s when my shopping season officially ends. I’m not a Scrooge, I’m just a highly sensitive person, and so from Thanksgiving through New Year’s Day, I avoid the stores as much as possible.

Back when the Roman government was feeding frightened people to the lions for the entertainment of the masses, the Apostle Paul wrote the following instructions. “Whatever things are true, … whatever things are lovely, … — meditate on these things.” These words were written to all believers, but I find them particularly important for the highly sensitive person. However, they’re not easy to implement. In fact, we highly sensitive people can find it extra challenging to follow these instructions.
