In the U.S., the Christmas shopping season officially begins the day after Thanksgiving. But for me, that’s when my shopping season officially ends. I’m not a Scrooge, I’m just a highly sensitive person, and so from Thanksgiving through New Year’s Day, I avoid the stores as much as possible.

Back when the Roman government was feeding frightened people to the lions for the entertainment of the masses, the Apostle Paul wrote the following instructions. “Whatever things are true, … whatever things are lovely, … — meditate on these things.” These words were written to all believers, but I find them particularly important for the highly sensitive person. However, they’re not easy to implement. In fact, we highly sensitive people can find it extra challenging to follow these instructions.
